Heat rashes usually begin on the cheeks, shoulders, bottom and skin creases, and consist of pinhead-sized red spots. Red-haired and blonde children are the ones most likely to suffer. The best treatment for a child suffering from heat rash is to keep him cool.

Finally, there are nappy rashes, which tend to be red, rough and rather scaly. These are usually caused by the contact between a baby's skin and his urine.

Rashes can be extremely difficult to diagnose. If you find a rash you can't identify for certain - then telephone a qualified doctor for help.
