When simple washing doesn't keep the pores clean, the most effective remedy available will be a keratolytic such as resorcinol or benoxyl peroxide.
These substances unblock the pores and clear out the blackheads. They are available as branded products, and you should either look on the labels at your chemist's or ask the pharmacist to find you something suitable.
There are other things worth remembering if you are an acne sufferer.
First, sunshine usually helps. Ultraviolet light encourages skin peeling, and that will help unblock the pores. Artificial sun lamps can help too - but do take care to follow the instructions carefully or you can get burnt.
Second, remember that make up can clog the pores and make things worse. So use as little make-up as you can; and do make sure that it is properly removed afterwards.
Third, if your spots become infected, then see your doctor. He can probably prescribe an antibiotic that will help. Do not be tempted to squeeze an infected spot; that is only likely to make things worse.Teacher: Michael Many articles taken from 'A word with the doctor', by Dr. John Windsor.
