Deafness and driving licenses? Part 2 (Teacher: Michael)

A hearing-aid does not clarify sound as much as it may increase volume, and can be distraction to driver, especially in town areas. hearing-aid is not comparable with spectacles. latter can improve vision to such extent it becomes normal. hearing-aid does not make hearing perfect. There have been suggestions certificate of sound hearing should be incorporated in every application for driving licence.

In view of statistics, however, would seem unreasonable. We all suffer at times from other driver who thinks we must be deaf, just because we don't do exactly what he wants us to do. He shows by hooting and bad manners. There is reason to believe driver with poorer hearing is spared some of sort of annoyance, as well as distraction of talkative passenger.

The only thing may possibly suffer little as result of disability is perhaps, gearbox! To sum up, I would maintain deaf driver is as safe as rest of us and I would never support any legislation against him.
