Dealing with acne Part 2 (Teacher: Michael)

When simple washing doesn't keep pores clean, most effective remedy available will be keratolytic such as resorcinol or benoxyl peroxide.

These substances unblock pores and clear out blackheads. They are available as branded products, and you should either look on labels at your chemist's or ask pharmacist to find you something suitable.

There are other things worth remembering if you are acne sufferer.

First, sunshine usually helps. Ultraviolet light encourages skin peeling, and will help unblock pores. Artificial sun lamps can help too - but do take care to follow instructions carefully or you can get burnt.

Second, remember make up can clog pores and make things worse. So use as little make-up as you can; and do make sure it is properly removed afterwards.

Third, if your spots become infected, then see your doctor. He can probably prescribe antibiotic will help. Do not be tempted to squeeze infected spot; is only likely to make things worse.
