PREVENTION OF MOSQUITO EXPOSURE

1. If planning to spend the evening out, wear long trousers and use mosquito repellent on exposed skin. Ultraviolet insect killers are very helpful if you like to stay -out in the garden or by the pool.

2. When spraying avoid applying repellent to children's hands. Read the label carefully. Always wash treated skin after mosquito exposure has ended.

3. Note that vitamin B and "ultrasonic devices" are not effective in preventing mosquito bites.

4. Be sure that there are no uncovered containers, wells or cisterns close to your home which might be holding stagnant water, because mosquitoes lay eggs in stagnant water.

5. Ensure that your home has tight fitting insect screens and do not forget that air vents should be covered with insect netting.

6. If spraying bedrooms with insecticide aerosols, be sure, to leave enough time for the aerosol to settle before going to sleep.

7. Deodorised mosquito repellents are very effective but can cause respiratory problems especially in children if used without adequate ventilation. So please take care.
