No fewer than 200 people, aged between 19 and 70, have undergone refractive surgery in four months at the new St James Hospital Eye Centre in Sliema, Malta.
For a procedure which takes a mere 15 minutes it is only natural that many are opting for a simple surgical procedure to reduce, or in most cases even eliminate, the use of spectacles and contact lenses.
The Eye Centre offers a comprehensive range of medical, surgical and optical eye care facilities and services, acting as a one-stop shop. The centre is run by specially trained ophthalmic personnel with over 12 years' experience in this specialised field.
Using state-of-the-art equipment, the eye centre is now rapidly catching up with other ophthalmic centres in Europe.
Patients from North Africa, Syria, Norway, England, Germany, and Italy, among other countries, have already been treated, clinic manager Brian Bondin told The Sunday Times.
