Blood clots Part 1 (Teacher: Michael)

Every man who cuts himself shaving knows bleeding time will be limited, but formation of clot of blood can be very serious complication.

For example, clot in the circulation of brain or in small coronary arteries - which keep muscles of heart supplied with blood - can produce either stroke or, in case of heart muscle, attack known as coronary.

Quite often in these conditions, or if clot forms in lungs or veins of lower limb, anticoagulants are prescribed to make it more difficult for blood to clot.

But, obviously, there must be limit to slowing-down of clotting rate. Carried to excess it can mean that bleeding goes on for far too long.
