Improving survival in breast cancer Part 2 (Teacher: Michael)

One hundred and twelve patients treated at the Breast Clinic at this hospital carefully studied. The size of the tumour, its dependence on hormones and the timing of the menstrual cycle documented. These patients followed for ten years and the results analysed. Overall 45% of women operated in the first half of the menstrual cycle survived 75% of those operated in the half of the cycle alive after ten years.

These results very interesting and they contribute to a substantial improvement for women with breast cancer. One careful to that this study to repeated in other centres with larger numbers before the results accepted as conclusive, though the study carried at a centre with an excellent reputation.

The findings definitely into consideration when premenopausal women scheduled for surgery as they significantly improve their chances of survival.
