After an appointment is given, a complete and thorough eye check will be carried out together with an eye scan performed by a highly sophisticated scanning system (Orbscan).
The doctor will then decide which treatment suits the client best. The clients are advised to stop wearing contact lenses prior to the exam, as these tend to warp the cornea and thus can give incorrect results.
Though the operation may sound complex, not to mention painful, this is far from the truth.
Refractive surgery is an outpatient procedure. Only the eye that is going to be operated upon is numbed by anaesthetic drops and the client will be given a light tranquilliser to help him relax. The procedure lasts a mere, painless 15 minutes.
The clients are advised to avoid swimming and dusty environments for a couple of weeks after the surgery so that the eye is given enough time to heal.
