To give your mouth something, to do, buy sugar-free gum, or chew on a toothpick.
Third, leave the table quickly after meals. Smokers often end their meals by lighting a cigarette. When you have given up smoking there isn't any easy way to tell that the meal has finished. There is a tendency for the eating to go on and on.
It is important, therefore, that when you have had enough to eat, you get up and leave the table. Don't just sit around, or you'll be tempted to reach for another portion of food.
At that time of the meal it is likely to be something exceptionally fattening - like a large piece of pudding.
Fourth, be aware of boredom. Many people smoke when they are bored. Without cigarettes, there is a risk that the periods of boredom will be filled with food.
Finally, eat only when you are hungry. Cigarettes ruin your sense of taste. Without cigarettes, you'll enjoy food more.
